Hi all I went to Gottschalks to check out their 60% sale as advertised on a street corner, wow what a surprise!!!: I found some items that were previously 30% or more lower now on sale for 20% also there just a few items at 60%, I ask a salesperson, her comment was if you shop here on a regular basis you'll know the prices, just wait and they the prices will drop,:2cents::hmmm:be careful, shop wise. art

I don't know if this is a case of a liquidator taking over yet, but buyer beware! In some instances, like Linens & Things, a liquidator takes over the final sales of a store's inventory. They often will mark prices up instead of marking them down! Peek under the price tag; it might be covering up the store's original sales price.

This is VERY good advice. Liquidators work from 'retail' or MSRP. That price is not necessarily anything even approaching a real retail number. The same is true for auctions - they are out to make money from the goods and not to save anyone money - just move it all quickly.
