Is there anyone out there who has healed their tendonitis?

I'm going to assume this is what I have..(overuse/repetitive motion)...I know exactly how it happened anyway...

Would like to talk/write to people who have healed their tendonitis. I don't have money to spend on professionals, no income coming in for quite a long time, and no health coverage...

I need to find work, and my work and livelihood depends on using my right arm...a good strong right arm...

I've already had to 'lay low' for quite a long time now for other reasons, and if I don't heal my arm and get a good strong arm back, I think I will go despairingly insane...not to mention becoming 'useless' and homeless...

If anyone knows how to help in this matter...any good suggestions...it would be much appreciated...

Thanks....

P.S...Started about 2 months ago...I'm trying to keep it 'imobilized' as much as possible, have done some heat/cold treatments...and a friend says I must take Ibuprofen at least 3 days in a row to help...I hate that stuff...took it the other day, and it makes my insides feel like I ate mud...(rarely taken any meds. or anything)...

According to one site I looked at, it seems it's in what they termed "stage 2"...dang, and it just started...

And yes, typing with one hand is the sh*ts...so I had to type with two...

I had tendonitis, and bursitis also. I went to acupuncture at Kaiser for about 2 months and it went away for the most part. It came back about a year later and I happened to be doing construction work for a retired surgeon who had done about a hundred operations on people with tendonitis and bursitis.

He advised me to just use acupressure by myself. (He was no big fan of accupunture and thought that it's main benefit was that it brings healing blood to the treated area. He was no big fan of surgery either) I did as he said and the pain went away again. It's not easy to push real hard on the painful point yourself, but after a while I got used to it (although it always hurt like hell) It takes a week or so to notice a difference, and possible much longer to cure it.
I think I came down with the affliction because when I would get tired at work, I would carry heavy loads in my hands without tension in my whole arm. I think this put stress on the joints. Ever since then, I've always tried to work with my whole body and mind concentrated on using my muscles correctly.

Good luck
Joe

I had a recent bout and had to continue working through (with) it. I soaked my shoulder in Epsom Salts often and if not in a tub, then in a warm wet towel directly on the spot.
Please try to rest it if you can and stretch the other directions lightly. Ask for help with certain tasks as much as you can. There should be no stigma to being hurt. One way to ask might be, " Would you mind helping me with this?"
There are other anti-inflammatories that won't tear your stomach lining. Payaya enzyme and turmeric are often used and Bromelain from pineapple is great. Try eating pineapple too. B vitamin complex plus extra B2 and B6 together have been great for carpel tunnel, so I imagine it would be very useful here.
I would also try to watch the position you sleep in. Make sure you aren't making it worse during the night. An extra pillow for limb support may help.

You don't say where the tendonitis is in your arm, but I had severe tendonitis in my elbow years ago, and Dr. Campbell had me do the following exercise, which cured it pretty fast:

have your forearm resting on the table, with your hand over the edge, and simply raise and lower your hand. You can hold some sort of weight in your hand, like a can of beans, as long as the arm stays on the table surface. This strengthened the elbow muscles without injuring them further.

I got the injury from heavy use of a "weed whip," which I never used again!

Are you certain it's tendonitis?

Wikipedia says: "If the symptoms of tendinitis/tendonitis last for several months or longer it is probably tendinosis." The two require different treatments.

Thanks everyone for your suggestions...I really appreciate it a lot!...

I'll be trying out your different suggestions, and see what happens...

And I'll keep reading up on it too, of course...

Zeno...Thanks for the question...I hadn't heard of 'tendinosis' and so I'm reading up on the difference...
---------

The problem is in the middle of my upper arm and shoulder...Upward, or outward movement - lifting, or reaching out my arm will hurt the middle upper arm area...and writing, typing...using that muscle area will make it ache...(I know how this area was damaged)...and moving shoulder forward...like when trying to put your arm in a sleeve, will hurt the shoulder area...

It's worse when waking up...a little better later in the day...

Thanks again everyone!...I'm always looking for good info. and learning about it...

I'll be seeing my orthopedic surgeon this morning and will ask him what he would suggest for your arm.

Sounds like either rotator cuff tendonitis or impingement syndrome. Ice,Ice, Ice, massage (deep tissue) strengthen and stretch with out overuse. Good luck! I recommend Ben Benjamin's Book " Listen to your pain" if you can find it in the library or? A lot of self healing techniques and help to diagnose what is going on. You might also try his web page.

I'd go along with Claire and Joe in their suggestions, and I would strongly encourage you to try MSM, which I used to cure my chronic heel pain. You can probably take a gram (1000 mg.), or more at a time, to start, at least twice a day. I found after taking several grams a day, that my heel felt much better within a week, even though I had been trying for years to get rid of it, with massage, hot and cold water/ice, massage, etc. After that, when I stopped taking the MSM, the pain would recure, but at a greatly reduced level. I have some sensitivity, still, but it's so minimal, I don't even bother to do anything about it. (expept yoga, and self- administered foot-massage, in the steam room at my athletic club.)

You can google MSM for lots of info. Try Buy Discount Vitamins, Supplements, Low Carb and More at www.Vitacost.com (https://www.vitacost.com) or iHerb.com - Vitamins, Supplements & Natural Health Products (https://www.iherb.com) for good on-line prices and selection or just get it from your local healthfood store. I like powdered kind; I just mix it in a bottle of drinking water, and sip during the day.

Scott.

I read up on 'tendinosis' last night...and this seems to be the new term to describe this kind of injury...

Tendinosis.org: Home Page (research into tendinosis, tendinitis, and chronic tendon injuries) (https://www.tendinosis.org/)

It's quite depressing reading about how hard it is to heal this kind of injury...

This site is quite informative, so anyone interested...I recommend reading it...

I will check out the other books/info. people suggest too...

I have MSM...and started taking it again...

I fell on the arm the other day, (to catch my balance) and that really screwed it up...So, I'm very bummed about it...Have been trying so hard to not use it...

Yes, I do believe in paying attention to my pain, so I'm not going to do any deep tissue right now...just gentle massage that doesn't hurt...

Thanks...
