I went to court with my best friend on Monday for custody of her kids. The entire issue is her use of prescribed medical marijuana. Her ex-husband has denied her the right to see her children based on her use of this prescribed medication. The court made a temporary order that she may not use it at all and that she is to be submitted for drug testing. This woman is a wonderful mother and an important active member of our community. She needs this medication for her migraines and fibromyalgia. She is now forced to endure excruciating pain because she may not use her medicine that she totally is legally using. I am hoping that this community will support her and help us find an attorney that is knowledgable and sympathetic with this unjustice.

With respect, the ex-husband did not 'deny her right to see her children,' disputants in domestic disputes do not have that power.

To put your statement in a less biased form 'her ex-husband asked the court to protect his children from being around what the federal government still considers to be an illegal substance.'

Totally legally using? Again, with some respect, that is a deeply ignorant statement. We have a conflict between federal and state laws. Her use is certainly not 'totally legal.'

The father of these children also has rights.

Please check out Peace in Medicine in Sebastopol. Great resource place and kind people

also.. a lil' over a week ago, I was at Guayaki yerbe mate place in Sebastopol and took a glance at their community bulletin board.
There was an ad for an affordable,"compassionate" lawyer that specialized in this subject matter.

Good luck to ur friend.

and most of all..blessings to the children involved who are caught up in this dispute. To both parties: don't forget that they too hold voices and preferences.
