Though I feel terrible that Barry and others are going through some of the situations out there right now, I am glad that they are opening up and talking, warning and examining our economy right now.
This is another plug for the Smart Business Seminars. These are not profit making seminars. This series comes from people like ourselves that are trying desparately to bring expertise and opinions together to give immediate help to our local community and businesses.
We are having a speaker on lending and banking issues (should have had them first!) but those issues are changing daily. Our unpaid experts/opinions are coming to tell us right now what we can do/expect in these times.
In reading some of the comments following Barry's original post, you can see the different opinions and options that we may have. Our seminars are 30 minutes of presentation and 30 minutes of Q&A just so some of those questions answered or addressed.
This Friday, 2/27 is Karen Pierce Gonzalez speaking on where our advertising and marketing dollars need to be in a time when we are all obviously pulling back. March 27th is technology issues.
I have been to so many meetings, committees and gatherings where no one is acknowedging what is happening in our community. This is one of many of these types of community meetings events to help get a handle on this.
It is a Chamber/Rotary sponsorship, but it is a community issue. They see both car dealerships closed, O'Reilly laying off, Patterson's Emporium and Fins and Feathers gone. This is the time to come together.
