This is Vatican damage control. The pope never should have rehabilitated bishop Richard Williamson, a Holocaust denier. This is yet another stain on the Catholic Church, especially for their current pope, Ratzinger. Pope Ratziner was a soldier in the German army during WWII, under Hitler's administration. I believe that the pope's insensitivity to Williamson's holocaust denial is associated with Ratzinger's probable affinity to Nazi ideology at least in his youth over 60 years ago, if not to the present day. (My goodness he's old!)

As a reflection, I could care less what the Catholic Church does in their personal affairs; they can do whatever they feel like and commit suicide as an institution if that's what they want. What is disgusting and reprehensible is the comport of the Catholic Church regarding a well known Holocaust denier. I wouldn't mind seeing the Catholic Church disappear altogether, especially as a result of their tolerance of Hitler, the Holocaust, and turning a blind eye to Mussolini's reign in Italy along with his military and ideological alliance with Hitler. This is just to name a few historical 'indiscretions,' which don't preclude the Inquisition and the Burning Times, etc.
