"Regarding the Jan. 25 letter by Elaine Holtz('Ending Wars'): I am also saddened by women and children dying and being wounded in the recent war between Israel and Hamas.
Unlike Holtz, I am also crying for the women and children in Israel who have died during several years of rockets launched aimed specifically at them, who have died by the thousands in the five wars launched by their Arab neighbors and who especially targeted to be blown up in buses, schools, and other public places by suiicide bombers.
I also have shed tears for the women and children of Gaza whose lives have been sacrificed for 60 years, first by Arab nations unwilling to accept a neighboring Jewish state and lately by Islamists such as Hamas and Hezbollah, whose murderous doctrine calls outright for the destruction of Israel and who callously sacrifice their own wives, sisters, and children, first by hiding behind them and then by parading their poor bloodied, burned, and maimed bodies before the world in a shameless bid for pity and victimhood."
