Hi Barry!

Hope life is treating you well. :)

Was away for a bit, so don't know when you changed this but just wanted to give some feedback on it.

I find it very distracting visually to have the banners in among the message titles/categories, especially when there are only 1 or 2 messages in a category. I personally read through the banners when they were grouped at the top, so this is not making me pay more attention. ;-> I also like my commercials grouped at the beginning of a TV program, as the Brits do. :)

Cheers,
Holly

Barry,

Haven't been on in a while and found this arrangement very distracting and cumbersome to wade my way through as I was trying to read postings.

Thanks for feedback, Holly (and Suzanne and Nathan),

As Holly pointed out, its most distracting when there are only 1 or 2 messages in a category, which I would agree with.

So I have changed the digest so that banners are only above categories with at least 3 (for now) messages in the category. I think this makes it much nicer, possibly even better than it was originally.

I made the change in the first place because when there are a lot of banners, I think its is a bit much visually when the are all bunched together. I also think the tendency is to scroll through the whole batch quickly, without noticing our local sponsors that have created attractive banners that are very much relevant to our community. And the banners that were below the table of contents probably got even less attention.

So I hope you'll find the format that debuts tonight more acceptable!

Barry

Unfortunately, the new format puts MY title under each person's name, rather than theirs, in the emailed digest, resulting in a confusing display. Looks like a little bug to fix.

Good catch, Raines! Thanks! It will be fixed in tonight's digest.

I did a fairly major reworking of the code for the digest to make it more maintainable and efficient. I wasn't intending to change the digest aside from the banners. So if you notice any other changes please bring them to my attention.

I noticed another bug: the reply counts in the table of contents were zero. That will be fixed tonight, too.
