Something wonderful in Guerneville is happening. Many members of the community are out of work, Business is having a hard time..same story as most of America...
So a few of us got together and decided to do something NOW! Not for next year, but now. Many of our friends are in the duldrums and not many smiles to be seen....We are creating a Sustainability Conference, which is meant to help, motivate and cheer up our communities...
Sustainability is a journey rather than a destination. A sustainable town or city is one that protects and enhances the immediate and long-term well-being of the community and its citizens, while providing the highest quality of life possible. Sustainability requires systems-based decision-making that takes into account economic, ecological, and community impacts as a whole.
A sustainable Community is one that meets the vital human needs of the present without compromising our ability to meet future needs. This requires consideration of both long-term and short-term effects on ecological, economic, and community systems. Operating sustain ably means that we are leaving a legacy for our community and the planet.
It means meeting the needs of our community now, without compromising the ability to meet the needs of future generations. The sustainability process integrates economic vitality, social health and environmental quality goals, prioritized to reflect the values of the community.
People are really starting to get excited and smile. Some who had given up are getting up and doing something. If one person can turn their life around in these difficult times, it will have all been worth it...
