I am creating a new list of folks who would like to receive some body-wisdom basics I have previously written for somatics students, and may continue to create. If you wish to be on Green’s Grounded List, please Reply.

So this “thought for the day” picks up on the idea that staying grounded requires passing up the seduction of pressure to draw attention out of the body in order to deal with the challenge. Instead we practice dropping deeper into the body to find core and balance. So the task is to stay interested in Self in relation to gravity (body-weight.) My workshops create opportunities to practice this, but you can do this alone too. Here are some intriguing thoughts about the importance of gravity, the language of planets (and other worldly bodies, like ours.) More specifics from Aikido & Somatics will follow, if you express interest.

Gravity is very mysterious. Science doesn’t really understand it, but an Albert Einstein view of the relativity of space and time gives us good reason to study it, both within and interpersonally. Aikidoist throw their weight around, and so do we, even if we are just getting out of bed or heading to the kitchen. The point is that we bump into one another with words too. Consider this:

Space and Time tell matter and energy where to go.

Matter and Energy tell space and time how to look.

Gravity is the manifestation of the curvature

of Space and Time.

(An Albert Einstein paraphrase)

When facing pressure, can you:
Show up fully?
Stay centered?
Speak your truth?
Listen compassionately?
Identify your core needs?
Access intuition reliably?

What people say:
"No-risk Aikido for the common-man."
“Simple, experiential exercises that are fun to do.”
“This is not therapy, but you satisfied my need for it.”
“My intuitions clarified and became more accessible.”
“I learned to show up with my whole being.”
“Inspiring and full of wisdom.”

“In this experiential and invigorating presentation we discovered that equanimity in the midst of the push and pull of conflict, and openness to the creative potential inherent in conflict have a felt basis in the body.” Jeff Goldfien, JD, LLM, ADRNC Board Member
