Bout to give up my Verizon, I think, if I can be convinced that the coverage and cost per call are somewhere in the range of what I'm used to. I would appreciate anyone's experience with these pay as you go phones. Thanks.

Tracphone's the only kind I've ever had, so I don't know how to compare it to others, but I like it. No charges except the phone itself, and you just buy a card of minutes when your card is used up. The cost per minute depends on the card you buy: the more minutes on it, the less cost per minute. I can't remember, but I think that the phone was around $100, and if I buy a 200-minute card, the cost per minute is 50 cents or so.

Yes. I bought cheapest phone at walmart, paid of service via cards, etc. tracphone is a great way to go if you don't use the phone that much and don't talk too much. It is an inexpensive means to being mobile and connected. They also have pretty good customer service. Would definetly recommend them.

I had tracfone for a couple of years but it`s a bit expensive compared to another pre pay service called NET 10. NET 10 is owned and run by Tracfone, it`s just less expensive. You can get refill cards at Safeway and Rite Aid, 300minutes for 30 dollars. Sometimes Safeway and Rite Aid have the phones for sale with 100 free minutes. I had NET 10 for a long time and prefer it to tracfone as it is never more than 10 cents a minute.
