I was told last night by a neighbor that there were two burglaries at the Fircrest Mobile Home Park in Sebastopol this weekend.
The burglaries occurred at night, and the burglar's pick up truck was spotted and license number taken down. Both houses were ransacked by two men. I will be asking the police today if they think it is related to my robbery and if they have additional info.
I also just talked to Bay Alarm about an alarm system. The rep told me she has seen a huge spike in activity in the North Bay, that in these desperate times, burglars are doing whatever they need to enter houses, including crawling into attic crawl spaces and cutting holes in the ceiling.
After talking to a lot of folks in Sebastopol, many have told me they don't ever lock their doors. While some say, well, they'll get in anyways, if you make it harder there is more of a chance for someone to see or hear the break-in and it will take longer and they'll leave more evidence. Or they might decide to move on to another house who's doors are open.
I've talked to Kathleen Schaffer, our newest City Council member and she would like to start up (or re-start) neighborhood watch groups. It is obvious in these troubled times, the community must really start to watch out for each other. I'll post more about a first meeting after talking more with Kathleen on where to host it.
