If you don't mind a longer drive, or camping is on the agenda, Gerstle Cove at Salt Point State Park (about 15 minutes north of Fort Ross State Park) is a marine reserve. The tide pools there are less impacted by human activities. Also, sometimes there's a Ranger providing information and pointers. If you choose that adventure, and you have some extra time, ask a Ranger to point you to the Moon Rocks. These are a stretch of coastline that is geologically fascinating made of sand stone that has been carved over time by wind and water into bizare formations that are fun to walk and/or scramble over. They are a short stroll along the bluff, North of Gerstle Cove.
Closer to home is Shell Beach, a favorite among teachers and led groups. It's just a bit South of Goat Rock.
And when you become more experienced, you can explore the extensive rocky coastline hugging the bluffs just north of the visitor center at Fort Ross State Park. It's more out of the way and not as accessible as the other two sites I've recommended, but well worth the effort for it's being off the beaten path.

Wherever you go, be very careful of the chances you take walking out on the slippery rocks. "Sleeper" waves wash people off the rocks on our coast every year.

We want to see you post on Waccobb again!

I love Pinicle Beach. You will have to read the tide schedule for it , but I have been walking the Sonoma Coast for at least 20 years and it is pretty stunning. The walk is great also.

The best tide pooling at minus tides is Duxbury Reef at Agate Beach north of Bolinas. If you are into it you can find nudibranchs, naked sea slugs, some of god's most exotic creatures. The next daytime lows 12/13-15th at 5:58, 6:47 and 7:37 AM San Fran. which need to be adjusted for Bolinas. If anyone is interested I might take people Mon. AM the 15th. Let me know. I love Pinnacle Gulch at the south end of Bodega Bay but you can only hike down to it during low tide. Lots of rocks and hiding places for flora and fauna.
