This man we have just met won the presidency. Setting all political parties aside does he have the power and initiative to actually make change or is this a sham?

Well of course it's a sham. It's always a sham. If he was really about "change" he wouldn't have chosen Biden as a running mate. However, I think Obama's realistic enough to understand that you can't be 100% radical and expect to get elected or, for that matter, have any cooperation once you're in office.

Don't count on the US becoming Cuba. Changes will mostly be gradual and that's probably a good thing. The US is easily panicked. The changes McCain would have brought would have been disaster on top of disaster. We did a lot better than McCain.

I am not sure what you mean by this but I have a response, LOL (SURPRISE! hehehehe)

I voted for Obama.

Prior to voting for him

I heard Obama speak for 2 minutes on a news show one morning. I never have heard Biden.

Last night I heard Obama speak for the second time and he was amazing (great writers!) and I saw Biden for the first time.

So I feel like last night I did meet "this man" for the first time.

On the other side of that I did not hear McCain speak this election but I already knew what I didn't want.

I feel really good about my choice. Following (in this case "voting") your conscience is often what is perfectly right.
