Measure O - Gold Ridge Fire Protection District
Seems like cheap insurance to me. I plan on voting yes. How about you?

Friday evening, January 19, 2007, about 7:00 pm my daughter was driving south on Gravenstein Hwy with my grandsons in the back seat of her full size pick-up. She was waiting to make a left turn onto Llano Road (no turn lane or flashing light) and was rear-ended by another truck. There were no firefighters on-duty at the Hessel Station. NO volunteers showed up. An engine started from the Twin Hills Station after no one responded. Even though the truck was totaled their injuries were not serious. In a more serious accident or medical emergency that delay could be fatal. Measure O will staff the Hessel Station 24/7 for $45 a year. I would gladly pay more for the peace of mind it would give me. The Gold Ridge Fire District is 75 square miles and serves 25,000 people. Having a crew at two of the three fires stations is important for our community. What if you have an emergency in Freestone and the engine is at the Washoe House? Measure O needs 2/3 of the vote to pass. This tax measure lost by 7 votes in 2006. Your vote is important!
