Greetings spirulina lovers and interested others,

My supply is dwindling and I am getting inquiries from interested parties so it looks like it is order time. We will be ordering from Elixir International at a special discount price for one pound jars of powder. With shipping this comes out to around $26 a pound. If you want any of the other products (tablets, bars) they are on the form also but not at the discount price we get for the powder.

I spoke with Richard today at Elixline and he said he would continue to give us a good price despite the price online going up to $29 a pound plus shipping. He told me some stores are selling it for $35. He also told me about an exciting new project they are building in Wyoming to produce spirulina there in an environmentally controlled facility. Right now it is imported from Chile where it is grown in covered ponds high in the mountains where the environment is very clean. The variety is spirulina maxima which is very dense in phyto-pigments giving it a very dark green color. It also has a richer and milder taste than the spirulina potensis variety more often found for sale.

To make things easier I have attached an order form that you can print and send in with your payment. This makes it easier to keep track of everyone's order and you will have all my info and I will have yours.

For those who want to know:

Spirulina is a blue green algae that is around 70% protein.

The protein is complete, like animal protein, but it comes from a plant.

It is the richest source of Vitamin B12 after liver but tastes better.

It is also rich in trace minerals.

It is high in Omega 3 and other healthful lipids (blue green algae are the original source of the healful lipids found in fish oils concentrated up the food chain from phytoplankton to zooplankton to larger fish)

Several cancer fighting phytopigments occur in high concentrations in spirulina.

Spirulina promotes arterial health and will reverse varicose veins if eaten daily for a year or so. Will prevent their development if eaten regularly by those who don't have them. I have zero plaque in my arteries and at 64 not one varicose vein even though I developed them during my second pregnancy in my 20s.

Spirulina is one of the most researched of foods and has been used by the World Health Organization to save babies in famine stricken areas as it is more nutritious and more easily digested than any other food. In animal feeding studies, baby animals thrive better on spirulina than on their mother's milk. Toxicity texts done by WHO found that animals fed high doses of spirulina were healthier and produced lower (actually zero) rates of birth defects than control groups.

Flamingos live on spirulina in the rift valley of Africa and Japanese koi are fed spirulina laced pellets to enable them to develop the intense colors so prized by their owners.
