It's a puppet show to make us believe we have a choice!
Here's artist David Dees' take on it

and Bill Clinton's mentor, Carroll Quigley:

Here's a short video explaining how the "two party" system works:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fTahZE4q90U
from the video description:
It is very important for us all to realise that we are living under a simple but clever system that has been designed to contain revolution whilst projecting the illusion of being a free, fair and open democracy. The 2-party system provides firm support for the elite to implement their agenda from the top down, whilst the ordinary people at the grassroots level squabble between themselves over which political party is the best. In reality, it doesn't matter which of the two parties you vote for because the same agenda will unfold regardless. Hence, both parties are controlled at the very top by the same force.

SUPPORT A THIRD PARTY CANDIDATE
We Agree - Paul, Baldwin, McKinney, Nader Statement
The Republican/Democrat duopoly has, for far too long, ignored the most important issues facing our nation. However, alternate candidates Chuck Baldwin, Cynthia McKinney, and Ralph Nader agree with Ron Paul on four key principles central to the health of our nation. These principles should be key in the considerations of every voter this November and in every election.
We Agree
Foreign Policy: The Iraq War must end as quickly as possible with removal of all our soldiers from the region. We must initiate the return of our soldiers from around the world, including Korea, Japan, Europe and the entire Middle East. We must cease the war propaganda, threats of a blockade and plans for attacks on Iran, nor should we re-ignite the cold war with Russia over Georgia. We must be willing to talk to all countries and offer friendship and trade and travel to all who are willing. We must take off the table the threat of a nuclear first strike against all nations.
Privacy: We must protect the privacy and civil liberties of all persons under US jurisdiction. We must repeal or radically change the Patriot Act, the Military Commissions Act, and the FISA legislation. We must reject the notion and practice of torture, eliminations of habeas corpus, secret tribunals, and secret prisons. We must deny immunity for corporations that spy willingly on the people for the benefit of the government. We must reject the unitary presidency, the illegal use of signing statements and excessive use of executive orders.
The National Debt: We believe that there should be no increase in the national debt. The burden of debt placed on the next generation is unjust and already threatening our economy and the value of our dollar. We must pay our bills as we go along and not unfairly place this burden on a future generation.
The Federal Reserve: We seek a thorough investigation, evaluation and audit of the Federal Reserve System and its cozy relationships with the banking, corporate, and other financial institutions. The arbitrary power to create money and credit out of thin air behind closed doors for the benefit of commercial interests must be ended. There should be no taxpayer bailouts of corporations and no corporate subsidies. Corporations should be aggressively prosecuted for their crimes and frauds.

After the events of the last week, and the likely events of the week(s) to come, is there anyone in WACCO land who, SERIOUSLY, does not think that Obama will win in a landslide. I'd say, potentially, more than 60% of the popular vote and upwards of 425 electoral votes. Depending upon what occurs during the next three weeks, the 2008 presidential election may parallel the 1972 election, with McCain subbing for McGovern.

So What? On the one hand, it can be viewed as a sterling example of bipartisanship; on the other, it smacks of Louie's retort to Rick, "Gambling in this establishment, I'm amazed!."

I really hate to burst your bubble, and I hope like hell that I'm wrong, but there are a LOT of people in this country who are WAY conservative, as well as many people in places like the Southeast who will not vote for a black man (or woman). You simply can't extrapolate the response of the general public (national) from the 'Oasis' of WACCO land---this is an unusual population of very liberal, informed, voters who are extremely concerned about the direction this country is taking. However, the rest of the country isn't quite as liberal----they actually LIKE the Republican Nominees!

Hi Paula,
Thanks for your reply. I am certainly aware that millions will vote for McCain/Palin; however, there is a growing trend to "throw the rascals out," a trend which has intensified over the past several weeks since the onset of the credit crunch and its ongoing impact. More and more, folks are asking, "What the hell has happened to my _________ (fill in the blank ... investments, 401(k), retirement, etc., etc.)." They are highly unlikely to retain the party on whose watch the economy tanked. They may not be voting 'for' Obama, but they will be voting 'against' Bush and his party. Unless there is a massive "Bradley Effect" on election day, I believe Obama will win easily.

I'm hoping and praying, but I can't forget that the same people who elected Richard Nixon (except for the dead ones) and GW Bush twice are probably going to be voting in this election. Don't want to get complacent.
