Yes...one child at a time. Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Sonoma County is looking to recruit people willing and able to spend quality time with a local child who, because of family circumstances, is in need of personal attention, companionship and guidance. Mentoring, in a word. Just an hour or two of your time per week…or every other week, engaged in some activity of mutual interest. A game or sporting activity. A walk in a park. A movie. A visit to the library, museum or other institution or cultural event. Our area is rich in resources and opportunities for learning…and just plain fun.

Over time, such a one-on-one relationship with a kind, caring adult can have a powerful, positive impact on the emotional, social, physical, intellectual…and yes, spiritual development of a child. In this manner, we all benefit as a community as one more child develops increased trust and self-confidence…expands his/her horizons…acquires new knowledge and skills…and generally becomes better equipped to handle the challenges of modern, urban life!

Calling on progressive, conscious, and compassionate fellow-citizens to find a way to make time in their lives and a place in their hearts for a deserving child. There currently are many wonderful children on our waiting list in Santa Rosa and neighboring communities. For more information, visit our website (https://www.bbbsnorthbay.org/) and/or call the Santa Rosa office at 584-2780 (Stefan or Crystal.) If, however, there is absolutely no way you can personally make such a commitment at this time, surely you know someone who can. Please send them our way. Thank you.
