i will be in the yucutan penninsula this winter for a family reunion, and have arranged to have a few weeks free to do whatever. i'm not much for tourism, and prefer to get involved with people and projects that interest me and that contribute in some way to the local communities and environment
i've lived and worked in other regions of mexico, and am fluent in spanish, and am working on some indigenous languages too. i've heard of two international ecovillages not too far from cancun that i'd like to connect with.
i'm aware that a number of permaculture activists from sonoma county were in cancun some years back protesting the WTO and helping set up model global ecovillages alongside many mexican activists. if any of you are still around and have ideas about how i might be able to plug into and support some of that good energy being cultivated back then, please let me know.
if anyone has any connection with people, communities, projects, or organizations that might like some volunteer energy for a few weeks in the yucatan, (within a few hours by bus from cancun), i'd love to know about it/them. i'd be happy to share much more about me and what skills i have to offer, with whoever contacts me with their suugestions/invitations.
