Hello.
For the past month I have been biking from Sebastopol to Santa Rosa for work. I take high school road to Occidental road, this route takes me over the laguna. On the east side on the bridge that crosses the laguna is a trail head. One day I stopped to find out how far the trail went. After about 2 miles the trail begins to disappear- some of the most beautiful two miles in sebastopol. What was quite disconcerting was the amount of trash left from people fishing and drinking. I was going to pickup what I could but I had nowhere to stuff it. So now I get to the point. I'm getting together folks that will be willing to come down to the laguna for a few hours to help pick up trash. Here is my [email protected]. If your interested drop an e-mail letting me know if sundays are good and which sunday is best. Hope to here from you soon.

Casey, keep us updated on the details--I will make it if I can. I do a lot of kayaking there and would also like to try to clean it up. If it's okay with you, I'd like to repost your message on the Laguna de Santa Rosa group on Flickr: https://www.flickr.com/groups/lagunasonoma/.

Hey Casey,

I saw your post on Wacco regarding the trash on the Laguna. I’ve been going there on and off for over 10 years, each time I go to do photography and end up doing as much trash collection. I’ve often thought we may need a large sign at the trail head regarding littering being a punishable offence – in English and Spanish. It does appear to me that it’s mainly beer drinking fisherman that are the biggest offenders, nothing against beer drinking or fishermen.

Anyway, I’m a single parent and have two jobs currently but please keep me posted when you may go out to pick up trash – I’ll do my best to join in.
