Free South Ossetia from Georgian repression. The Ossetian people have already democratically voted to be an independent state. South Ossetians have also already been massacred before by the Georgians in the 1990s, with thousands of Ossetians dead.

This is another example of Tibet, East Timor, the Basque Country, Bosnia, Kosovo, the Subsahara, Classic Scotland, and many other nations that are repressed or occupied by another country with false claims of national integrity.

Free South Ossetia from Georgian repression. Edward

Sooo.... Edward,

I take it you are supporting Russia's armed intervention into the business of its smaller, weaker neighbors?

I would support a South Ossetian and Abhkasian referendum on self-rule (haven't they already had them?) But do you think anyone with any influence in the region (Russia, Georgia, the E.U., Nato, and/or the US) would?

Unlikely from my reading of the news.

And how about national sovereignty for Chechnya, Euschkadia (sp? Basqueland), The Tribal Regions of Pakistan, Shan, Karen, Karenni et al in Burma, Every First Resident Indian Nation in the Americas, etc., etc., etc.,

Who has the time?

Or you could take the standard Anar position of "No Borders!". At least it's simpler and consistent.

Bon Chance Cherie!

I was wondering were you went.
Ossetia it was.

I believe in the no borders philosophy. That indeed would be the very best solution of all. And I hope that one day, probably inevitably, that is the way it will be.

Until then, however, I don't think that the Georgians have the right to mass murder their own 'citizens' under the pretext of national sovereignty. I'm happy to see the Russian army stomp all over their butts.

By the way, I did mention the Basque Country (or 'Euskadi'). And I also support all of those other countries you mentioned as well. Not my intention to leave anyone out.

One day, the world will be a single nation, under a single flag. Although I can also see that local sovereignty will keep their local flags, such as for sub-nations and even local municipalities.
