Never tried it, but it looks like the one Grandma had as a child, except that ground meat, neckties, clothespins, etc.

I've used both an apple press and my champion juicer for apple juice. The press makes much better juice because the juicer grinds up so much skin and pulp that you almost have to chew the juice. The press produces clean liquid.

If you know someone with a press it's great fun to get together and press apples with a group of people.
