I am finally ready, after 3 years of being Cat-Less to bring a kitty into my home. I have visited the Humane Society and have also been on Pets Life Line. I thought why not post something here too to broaden my search. I am looking for a cat who has been around dogs, who is not afraid of them and maybe even likes them. (My last cat lived to be 19 yrs. old, never liked cats but would walk right up to a dog) I have a cattle dog; have had him for 8 yrs.,5 of those years he lived with 2 senior cats. It has been 3 yrs. since the last one pasted away so he is out of practice being in close proximity to a cat. He likes to bump them and sniff them and he needs a cat that will tolerate that kind of stuff but also know its limits. He will chase a cat that runs.My dog is terrified of aggressive cats;ones that go after him. I don't think I need that extreme but an easy-going don't mess with me kinda thing is good. I live in a yurt in the country outside of Occidental.I would like a good mouser. i would also prefer the cat to be female(spayed) and not a kitten...older is fine. i could be interested in a male but he would have to be all the right things...and more. i will be out of town til Sat. but will get in touch with you when i return. Thanks for reading all of this:): Morgan and Jasper e-mail or call 874-3611

Hi Morgan,
My family and I raise foster kittens for the Rohnert Park Shelter. They are overrun with cats and kittens right now. They even had a sale last weekend! We raised a litter of 6 who have now been in the shelter 2 weeks waiting for a home which is nothing compared to one cat who was adopted this week after a full year in the shelter.
The kittens we raised are used to both dogs and chickens. You'll know them by their "cheesy" names. Gouda, a long coated tabby with incredible whiskers, would be a great one if you decide you want a kit.
Otherwise, just ask the staff to do a test with one of the shelter dogs or bring your dog in to find a compatible cat. Tell them Trish sent you.
good luck!
