Does anyone have any feedback about www.catalogchoice.org (https://www.catalogchoice.org/), an online service that helps you stop unwanted catalogs? They cite the statistic of 19 billion catalogs consuming 3.6 million tons of paper and 53 billion trees.

This group has been endorsed by the Ecology Center in Berkeley, the National Wildlife Federation and the National Resources Defense Council.

Thanks.

This takes a very long time to do.

The Direct Mail Marketing Association has had an opt-out registry for consumers in place since 1971. It covers all sorts of "unsolicited" mailings, including catalogs. It too takes a while to take effect, but it seems to work pretty well.

The credit card industry has also instituted opt-out for unsolicited credit card offers, but I don't know if there is a central clearinghouse registry for this.

Thank you for your information. I am a skeptic in that marketing in this country has gone to extremes...greed has reached epidemic levels - so I'm not surprised it is complicated to stop the process. Better to save a few trees!
