My hard-working sister rescued and has given her heart to a horse. At the time, someone was generous enough to basically give her space to board/shelter him. Then she was hit by a dire situation; the need to take care of our mother and the ensuing expenses, time, and heartache, and the end of the offer of space for her horse. These are my words, not hers, so please don't hold them against her. I'm afraid I'm not in a position to help, mess that my life is. She works very hard at a FT job, and is very dedicated to both our mother and the horse. I've taken it upon myself to make this post and request referrals to places near or in Santa Rosa (gas is an issue at this point as well) to board/shelter her horse. Obviously, she wants him to be safe, have shelter, but needs some compromise on cost. She would probably be willing to exchange some work around the place.

Many Thanks,

Every year, hundreds and thousands of horses are killed and their meat is sold, mostly in Europe and Asia. Obviously this is a major issue that most people would prefer not even to think about it.
When a horse grows older, the person who owns the horse feels that it is no longer useful since it has reached its age and cannot work anymore. Thus, the horse ends up at the local shed. But there are some chances where this horse will be sold to the killer market with out the presence of the horse owner. The owner often prefers to ignore this, as they believe that the horse will be sent to a good home or agency.
In this situation I appreciate what your sis is doing.
