Today I received my first email digest from waccobb. I thought I'd specified
that I wanted it in plain text, but I guess not. In fact, now I can't even find a
place in the User Control Panel to do this.
It's very pretty, but it's 95+ megabytes, and it's only ONE INCH WIDE! And
about two miles long!
I assume the oddities are because I have a Mac...
I don't want to do this much scrolling to read it. If I put it into TextEdit it
shows all the html stuff </p> etc., another big PITA...
How can I set prefs so I get the emails in PLAIN TEXT?

Hmmm...
I wonder why its only one inch wide. It should stretch to the width of your window.
The digst I recieved tonight was 103 Kilobytes (.1 Megabytes) which is not so big, as opposed to 95 megabytes which would be huge.
I plan to support plain text digests as well as individual emails sometime soon. One question is should it be sent out in a format (MIME) that combines both text and HTML versions so you would not have to specify which you want but would result in a bigger file, or adding the addition interface to specify which version you want.
Is anybody else having trouble with the digest? Don't you like to be able to jump right to the message?

Well, this prob seems to have magically cleared itself up...today's digest
came still with the skin, but as wide as all my emails. I only mention it
because it no longer needs a reply.
I don't know how or why, but I'm loving it. Thanks to whoever (Barry?

Mime would probably do the trick. I use a text interface for email so I can help test, actually you could do that to using the sonic text email reader. I'm pretty sure, so long as mime is done properly it's very text friendly. I don't think size will be a huge issue even on dialup, as the actual text shoulnd't be very huge (500kb? about the same as a nice image).
