My name is Buzzy Martin and for the last fifteen years of my life I've been blessed to have the rare opportunity to not only work with at risk youth but, to teach them music. A lot of people refer to these children as throw away kids. You know the boys and girls that end up incarcerated because of their environment. Gangs, abuse, drugs, violence and the distorted life style values they have been taught guarantee eventual incarceration. After that they are often locked into a system that virtually perpetuates itself; the "Juvenile Justice System". I have written and self-published a book "Don't Shoot! I'm the Guitar Man" about my experiences teaching a music program to inmates in San Quentin State Prison. The 3 1/2 years I taught music their have accorded me a rare gift and privilege to share my incredible story, the lessons I've learned and the messages those experiences contain for all at risk youth in every town across America. I'm trying very hard to convince Board of Supervisors, Politicians, and current Directors of Juvenile Institutions around the country to read and place my book in the facilities and or schools so their at risk youth can have a rare opportunity through reading to gain insight, wisdom, and the knowledge so that they can be inspired to make the right choices in their life and for their future. You can imagine some of the unprofessional, mean spirited rudeness that I have encountered by many of these facilitators. I've spoken to many Juvenile Hall Directors around the country priding themselves, informing me that they have no money due to budget constraints and currently are in the process of expanding their own facility by adding more cells and calling it progress. The incarceration business is alive and well in the USA. I have a tool that can and does help. Any suggestions out their West County would greatly appreciated. These kids need and deserve our help. Thank you, Buzzy Martin

Much appreciated, Buzzy. I look forward to reading your book. Should I order it here: https://www.amazon.com/Dont-Shoot-Im-Guitar-Man/dp/0979350808 or do you have a more local connection for us?

Buzzy - I am very familiar with your work and your music, but I haven't read your book although I certainly have intended to.
You asked for suggestions, so here is mine:
I will buy two copies of your book. One I will keep and read and the other I will donate including postage, the one of the facilities you are trying to contact. Let me know when and where to send it and I will do it.
Anyone else?
You can also just buy the one book (read it) and then donate it (if used would be appropriate).
I might even be able to help coordinate the mailing if you had others jump on this bandwagon (pun intended).

Yo, Buzzy. I have a copy of your book and my wife and I have both read it. Great stuff, sir. As you know, I deal with incarcerated men and women too, and we agree that there is no rehabilition in incarceration today. I say we conspire over 9 holes at Sebastopol Golf Course about how we might unite our efforts to change this sorry system. Heyyyy, that reminds me: You OWE me 9 holes, don't you? Friday morning works for me.

Hi Buzzy,
I would like to send this book to someone at a county jail and, unfortunately, only new books from .com booksellers are accepted there. Is there any way a copy of your book can be ordered through Amazon or someone like that? I think that is also true for San Quentin and other state prisons.
Thank you,
Linda
