I am intending to attract in a local Veterinarian who is compassionate and willing to work out a payment plan with me for my 5 yr old Kitty.

I am aware of the procedures /treatment that needs to be done as I witnessed last years visit to the vet for similar reasons.

Due to getting scratched while in a tangle with another animal, she now has a cyst on the side of her neck that has been getting increasingly large.

This area needs to be shaved as well as drained and she needs to be given a shot of anti-biotics ASAP.

I did attempt to treat it alternatively this time around , but the cyst has continued to grow and am now concerned it could be affecting her breathing.

I have called around to different vet clinics to check the price ranges for bringing her in for an appt along with the cost of treatment and none that I call seem to offer payment plans or reduced rates for low income.

Suggestions very much apprciated !

Animal Hospital of Sebastopol tends to be reasonable, also the Humane Society in Santa Rosa.

Kali, the wound needs to drain. If the wound was in a place where the animal could lick it the wound would stay open and it would drain.

You can simulate the action by rubbing vaseline into the site several times a day. After a couple of days (or sooner) the cyst should open and a lot of stuff will come out. You can also help it along with a warm wet cloth held on the cyst as long as the cat will allow it.

Rubbing vaseline or any of the over the counter antibiotic ointments into the wound several times a day will do the trick. You must get and keep the wound open to drain. Antibiotics won't make a lot of difference in most cases.

Hopefully you're catching it soon enough.

Good luck,
