Go to your User Control Panel (https://www.waccobb.net/forums/usercp.php?s=) and click on Buddy / Ignore Lists (https://www.waccobb.net/forums/profile.php?do=editlist) option on the left. Add the Waccobb.net User Name (not their email address) to the Ignore list.

OK, thanks.

I noticed that by clicking on a users name, the pop-up window offers an "Add" to Buddy List option, but not an "Ignore." For example,

If I'm not mistaken, all members by default are added to your Buddy List - so why not have the pop-up option link changed to Ignore instead - or at least add it to the menu? The way it is now, the Add link is redundant.

hmmm... interesting. When I tried to use the Add link, nothing changed in the Buddy List. Does it work for you?

Yes, it worked for me. If you add someone to your buddy list using the link under their user name and then goto the Buddy / Ignore list page, you will see it there.

I disabled the buddy list functionality. All it did was to put a star next to the user's name in the "who's online" list. However I removed the who's online list when simplifying the interface. Changing the Add to Buddy list option to Add to ignore list is something to consider though.

Hi Barry,

Just got an e-mail from the blocked-user so I guess the Ignore list doesn't work for email deliveries? :-(

Why is that? Can this be fixed??

Blocking a user only prevents their posts from being displayed to you on the website. Yes, it can be changed to prevent emails from users. Its on the list.

That's great - any idea when this will happen? Nope. Its not a top priority. In the meantime you can use a in-box rule to filter out that user's emails.

Please give an example.That depends on your email client. For MS Outlook, you would use Tools->Rule Wizard. The idea is to set up a rule that says in the email From address is "x" then do such and such. Bob, I thought you were already using such rules.

The email address - which is what I need to block - shows [email protected] - regardless of the user, right? For that field, my email client (Yahoo! Mail Plus) only offers the ability to block for email address (for example, [email protected]) or domain (for example, waccobb.net). Are you saying you have the ability to block non-email or domain name data in the email field of your filter?

However, one change that IS on the top priority list, is to include the sender's actual email address on the email notifications. Then you will be able to use a rule to block it. I hope to make that change in January.

Well OK, I wasn't sure if you were still planning to do that or not when this was discussed back in September since it means revealing everybody's email address ( https://www.waccobb.net/forums/showthread.php?p=3521 ), opens up privacy issues, spam etc.

It seems to me it'd be better to modify/enable the "Ignore" function - which is already built in to the code - to prevent the emails from going out in the first place.

Last night I received several emails outside of my WaccoBB.net folder. It didn't take me long to realise why since six of the ten emails were from you with subjects like "test" and "Testing getting a copy."

Gone was the default [email protected] Reply email address and in it's place instead, now stood the users private email (lisi76, Mallory, davidohm, phooph) - so I guess you're going ahead with this hack?

If so, aside from the email address privacy issue, unfortunately now my "fix" for being able to get around the no-email-send-for-my-posts problem of this software (see https://www.waccobb.net/forums/showthread.php?t=1647) by having a second WaccoBB.net account (bobafifi2) and disabling the email address so that I wouldn't get duplicates (which was working great, BTW) no longer works...
Now should somebody try to reply to an email from bobafifi2, I'll never get it, right?

For those concerned users that don't want their private email address revealed in the WaccoBB.net email sends, thanks to Google's new https://base.google.com service you can at least encrypt your address so that it'll look something like this [email protected]. What's good about using Google's anonomizer (as opposed to craigslist's) is that Google's doesn't expire in ten days. However, you'll still need to login to your WaccoBB.net User CP and change, then confirm, the encrypted email address.

The HTML and CSS is no longer showing, thanks. However just so you know, the last two emails just in have a reply address of "WaccoBB Categories" <[email protected]>, yet the directive says
