Barry

I (and probably others) would be more comfortable with seeing that you've edited my posts if the line that says " Last edited by Barry: 5 Days Ago at 10:04 PM." would give a reason for the editing. Otherwise, my censorship bells start to go off.
Thanks;

99 and 44/100ths percent of the time I'm fixing the format . And 99% of posts I change for any other reasons I move to the Censored category.

I'll try to remember to add more reasons.

speaking of format.
there are some quirks when one responds inside the quoted post.
it appears as cursive and it isn't clear until after one has posted that this will happen.
It can even look like there is no response
Meaning the reply box appearance is different than the post, (yes, I know there is a preview)

You shouldn't be responding "inside the quote post".

Quote a bit and respond, quote a bit and respond.

Highlighting a bit of text and clicking the https://www.waccobb.net/forums/images/editor/quote.gif icon puts the quote tags around it.

I'll show you the difference
above it says "Barry says" etc...............

after highlight, copy, paste, highlight, quote, I get this

If you are responding to one post in several pieces, which is what you normally do, you can use the "Barry says" form for the first bit and just use generics quotes for the remaining pieces.

If you want get fancy you add the "Barry says" by adding a "={poster's name}
after the "

If you want get fancy you add the "Barry says" by adding a "={poster's name}
after the "[quote" and to get real fancy you can add the link to the post by following that with a ";{post id}
".

OK, let me try again.... Quotes are enclosed in a matching set a of tags enclosed in square brackets. I'll use curly brackets "{ }" instead of square brackets "[ ]" so as not to trigger actual quoting in this post outside of the examples.

The basic quote format is {quote}some text to quote{/quote}. Note the forward slash "/" in the close quote tag (remember, you'll use square brackets rather than curly ones).

So the above sample quote would look like this:

some text to quoteThis is what you will get if you just highlight some (pasted in?) text and click the https://www.waccobb.net/forums/images/editor/quote.gif icon.

To add the poster's name, just add it with a preceding "=" like this: {quote=Barry}some text to quote{/quote} which yields:

some text to quote
Then, to add a link to the post that the quote came from, add the postid preceeded by a semicolon, like this: {quote=Barry;61774 }some text to quote{/quote} which yields:

some text to quote

Note the https://www.waccobb.net/forums/waccobb/orangebuttons/viewpost.gif which is a link to the original message. This is the form that https://www.waccobb.net/forums/waccobb/orangebuttons/quote.gif<!-- wacco make post number a link to this post within the thread #1 (https://www.waccobb.net/forums/showpost.php?p=61439&postcount=1) --> uses. You can find the postid by clicking on the post number (ie: #1 ) in the thread on the website.

Clear? If not, please ask a specific question.

I look forward to seeing your well-formatted quotes and witty non-confrontational replies! :wink:
