American Pop Music Collection--1839 to 1950.
I started collecting old 78rpm records in 1964 and I now have over 25,000 recordings dating back to 1899, including Edison Disks, Edison cylinders and Pathe Ball recordings. My house is too small, and I ain't getting any younger, so I need a place, 100 x 100 feet, or at least 50 x 50 feet wide so I can put up shelves (removable) and get this collection onto CDs, and sell off or donate the entire collection to some educational institution or musical groups.
I also have two or three tons, literally, of related sheet music, books, magazines, newspaper clippings and photos that are part of this collection. This paper stuff dates back to 1510, but most of it (sheet music) is from the 1820 to 1940's era, with heaviest emphasis on 1890-1930.
If you have a building of any kind, or land upon which to place a building, I can pay something appropriate for the use of it. I can pay to put up a 100x100 or 50x50 foot building which, at the end of two years, you may keep.
If you have teenage or older kids interested in musical history, I'll be glad to educate them about the History of American Pop Music. They'll love it!
The closer the storage space is to Forestville, the better. I'd like to make this stuff available to posterity as I am no spring chicken no more. Contact me if you are willing and able to help me.
