Will someone please give a good home to Cleo, a good-looking, affectionate cat
~18 years old? The human with whom she's been staying for the past year is
"too overwhelmed and self-absorbed at this point in my life to treat her with the
respect, kindness, compassion, intimacy and patience that she deserves." He
took her in when someone was moving out of state and planning to simply abandon
her, and though he hasn't been able to find a permanent home for her, in a year
of living with her he has come to love her. If he doesn't find someone to adopt
(or at least foster) her in the next week, he's going to have her euthanized.
Please save this wonderful individual and add more love and joy to your life.

Sorry--i must have tossed your email after i forwarded it to Cleo's human friend;
here's his response:

This realfire person has their email account blocked, so i can't reply to them. perhaps you can. here's the text of what i responded:

" No. I haven't had any luck yet. Here's a picture. As far as i've seen in the past 6 years she has no health issues, no physical problems. Her hips seem to be a little stiff after getting out of bed lately, but that's all i've seen. She can't clean herself as well as she used to so she needs more brushing and attending to her fur where and when it gets matted into a "dreadlock". The dreads mostly happen when her winter coat comes in (mostly over by now)."

Hi! I responded when you first posted and suggested Brighthaven. You said that they charge $5000 to accept an animal. I have recently spent some time there and from what I understand, they charge $5000 if a pet owner wants to turn an animal over to them. For the level of care the animal receives, this is a reasonable amount. For animals from shelters and rescue situations, they don't charge. I don't know what they would do in this situation or if they have room, but it wouldn't hurt to ask if you still have Cleo. Barrie

I think it's crazy to euthanize a cat when Sebastopol has a no-kill shelter... as long as the cat is healthy, let it live out it's golden years in peace!
