I've been running my hot tub for the last 15 years without chemicals. I installed a big capacity ozoneator in the pipes; it's still the original one, the water is constantly clean and clear and no more chemicals.

I also found a method of cleaning the filter without chemicals. While one filter is in the hot tub, the dirty one is soaking in water with added enzymes - the bacterial enzymes that are for clogged drains, septic systems, etc. (hardware store). The little bacteria eat their way through the clogged filter and clean it (might take a month or more). I rinse it and replace.

I'm interested...could you elaborate on where to get a big capacity ozoneator and how to install it? My kids like to use the hot tub (we turn off the heat) in the summer and I worry about the bromine.
