The only news here is the source.

Here is a pdf of the report by the National Institute for Strategic Studies, a Defense Department research center:

It says, in part, "Measured in blood and treasure, the war in Iraq has achieved the status of a major war and a major debacle," says the report's opening line."
I can only wonder of their agenda. It sounds as if that is what they set out to prove!
And they are probably right, if that is their conclusion. I am saddened, as in any war/violence would make a human being, at such an occurrence. When studying war, this one does not meet 'major war' on a few counts. It is not a war per the Constitution, and thus our men and women over there may be denied certain rewards when they return. It is not a 'major war' when viewed in light of what your grandfathers went through in WWII. We've been pissing around there longer than WWII, and yet in all that time lost half of what happened in one day at some remote island in the Pacific. And then some.
No, what this article does is give succor to those that want US out of Iraq. And, once again, nobody wants out of war more than a warrior.
And as for treasure. Hell, the bumper sticker read, "no blood for oil" and that is what we got, by half. We gave blood, and they won't pay for it in oil.
It is like that old curse from the Far East: may you live in interesting times. :2cents:
