My husband and I are watching/participating, Barry. I am getting so much out of it. I am really touched that Oprah has put this whole thing together. I can't imagine how much this whole program has cost to enable over 700,000 people to watch them live over the web. The broadcast broke up, and then just stuck last week, so we downloaded it an watched it the next day. Tonight we were able to watch the whole thing live. It's a wonderful experience to be a part of.

I don't understand what this is about. Any simple explanations available?

Sounds really interesting, whatever it is!

Thanks,

Edward

I agree its a very powerful experience. This is what its about for those who don't know - Oprah recommended that people read Eckert Tolle's "A New Earth" and participate, if you want, to a live 10 week online class. Pretty phenonmenal to have hundreds of thousands of people learning about moving out their ego and being present in a more real-whole-integrated moments of being. You can watch live which is mondays at 6 pm or anytime download the free show at oprah.com or itunes... sound or video or text.

The first chapter in the book is dense but then it gets easier and though we may know a lot, somehow Eckert makes the information for meaningful engagement. Oprah's website also has workbooks to go with this, ways to communicate directly with her and eckert. With this experience and her Big GIve Oprah's showing us the power of the electronic air waves - the power for good, inspirational edutainment. And for me, its not just the show its how I am changing inside. I sure am a lot less reactive to things that have bugged me for years, or people. I experience it differently.

3 cheers for Oprah and Eckert! One more thing - the online show is basically oprah and viewers asking questions about each week's chapter. So confusing passages are then explained, often with examples by Eckert. Class 2 was wonderful in that it also gave a little experiential stuff - even if you know the material this is another flavor. Check it out. You can get old shows free anytime.

I've been experiencing the event via the transcript available on Oprah.com because I don't have high-speed internet. (You might have to "register" for the class to be able to get the transcript. I did and it's a simple process.)

I got a TV glimpse the first night at a home in east Santa Rosa (a 40 minute drive for me) so I have some visuals in my mind to attach to the words.

Please don't try to get the message just by reading the transcript or download the "class"; if the book costs too much for you at Copperfield's, think of it as a movie or a couple of packs of cheap beer and go to Costco where you'll get it for only $8. I'm in my second reading... well worth it.

Like most spiritual books, it's the same message... just in a new frame, and this is a good one for me. Since I can't yet seem to put into practice everything I learned in kindergarten, I welcome new approaches. As a human being, I'm living with my ego every day, and I welcome a fresh, new tool to undermine it. Even with meditation practices, the ego has sneaky ways of co-opting my life. (I often think of my ego as my house-imp... good for a smile. If we can't laugh at ourselves... well, never mind... enough said.)
