Hey Wacco's,
Do ticks drop from tress? & Tick MD

What are Green ways to get rid of poison Both removing the plant from the property, and the rash from your skin??
A or B?
<hr>A)

I'm sorry, I just don't agree that ticks drop down from trees. They're not arboreal parasites. If one falls from a tree, it's probably because it's fallen off an animal that was in the tree (cat?). Ticks stay in the grass/tall weeds, and, as you said, have an "heat sensor" of sorts that allows them to anticipate when a warm body is moving toward them, especially if they brush up against the grass that the tick is on. Fleas jump, ticks crawl, but that can grab on as a warm body passes by. Unless they've collaborated & started making catapults, I don't believe that ticks can leap more than 0.5cm, and that's not really a "leap", more like a stretch towards their target.

As far as "the best Lyme Disease expert", that would depend on the region. There's a research scientist in Southern Georgia known as "The Tick Guy"---I don't even know his actual name because that's all anyone ever calls him.
Smiles,

{ WaccoBB.net, Peace Voyager:}

Wayne is a Physician's Assistant, working with Dr. Gordon, an MD in Santa Rosa. In the opinion of many, he is best local guy helping folks, knows regular and alternative medicine.

He used to work with the Occidental Are Health Clinic, so they known have good knowledge on Lyme's as well.

Out in Occidental, in the woods with pets, we saw many ticks. The property owner has had a tough time w/Lyme's Disease.

Is there a tick hot spot map of Sonoma County or Marin?

B) Does anyone else have info on the tree dropping tick idea?

Yes, we got a lot of ticks when we lived in Graton. Watch out for them in wood piles, hike in clearings, as they like to drop down from trees when they notice something warm below.

If you find a tick on you and are concerned about Lyme's, preserve the tick and take it to the County Health Dept. (next to Sutter). They will do the test for a small fee.

Natural repellents (for you and your pets) are found in your favorite health food store, or Rosemary's Garden in Sebastopol. You may enjoy learning to make your own from local herbs like Pennyroyal, etc. Use with caution, especially if pregnant.

The best Lyme's disease expert is Wayne Anderson, who works with Dr. Gordon in SR.

Much thanks,

Colleen Fernald

Before removing the plant, I would contemplate her usefulness. Her deep, vine-like roots stabilize the soil on slide-prone hillsides. Growing near oak trees, she sucks up the excess water in the ground that would discomfort the oak.

And the result of learning to respect and honor her is, in my experience, that she ceases to be "poison." Actually, there is nothing "poisonous" in this plant; the allergic reaction is something we create ourselves, through disharmony. YMMV.

That said.. I believe that goats are fond of eating it, if you just want to reduce the growth without actually trying to remove it completely.
