Public Trees in Sebastopol

I would like to bring a group of people together to bring more urban trees to sidewalks and other public land, and to publicly visible private land, in the City of Sebastopol.

The Tree Board meets first and third Wednesdays at 4 PM next to the library. Synch up or even run for the board!

I am aware of the Design Review Board/Tree Board.

But aren't they just evaluating what trees can be cut down and/or what these need to be replaced by on private property? They do not seem to be proactive in making the town a place for more trees to dwell.

There is a man who gives away trees for this purpose. I believe he has inmates grow the trees from seeds and cuttings. Used to be listed in the SonoMax recycle guide.

You are right. Good point. Of course when you write you want to plant trees "on sidewalks and other public land, and to publicly visible private land, in the City of Sebastopol", things get difficult quickly. With private land owners you can go person to property-owner and ask to plant. Simple, bold, and do-able by any person. Sidwalks are a whole load of problems. Besides our streets are so dang narrow as to barely let one wheelchair pass! I like your idea though:2cents:
