Which technology is better? Blue Ray or HD DVD? Does anyone know?
According to Spanish newspaper, El Pais, the market battle is being won by Sony, manufacturer of the Blue Ray technology. I'm really interested in the answer to this question because it reminds me of the battle won by VHS against Beta in the 1980's, even though Betamax was a smaller package with the same quality as VHS. This is a famous case where the superior technology lost the marketing battle, which should not happen, and speaks poorly of market forces. I hope that the same thing is not being repeated in this contest:
I understand that Blue Ray is the better of the two, and although a little more expensive... it has now won the battle and HD has lost.
Now we can all upgrade our home theatre's and help out the economy by buying new huge energy sucking flat screen TV's, peace-shattering surround sound systems with neighbor disturbing SubWoofers, and ultra expensive Hi Def Blue Ray players & disks... Or NOT!

I think the same is happening again. Sony (and others) this time has(have) pushed the Blue Ray into becoming a standard, Toshiba dropping further developemnt of HD, even though there are technical and financial advantages to the HD format.
