The Sebastopol Area Senior Center encourages Seniors to buy local. We are compiling a list of the local businesses that offer discounts to Seniors, and we will print the list in the Senior Center newspaper, "The Grapevine." If anyone on the Wacco owns, works in, or knows of a local business that offers some type of discount to Seniors, please let us know. Contact us if further information is needed.

Food for Humans on First Street, next to Safeway, in
Guerneville, offers a 10 percent discount to seniors
on Tuesdays. It's a great store generally, with prices
often lower than supermarkets.

I believe that Oliver's Market in Cotati offers a senior discount one day a week....I'm sure someone there could let you know the details. Thanks for doing this, it's a great idea! How can I get a copy of The Grapevine? My parents live in Rohnert Park and I'd love to pass it on to them.

All Salvation Army stores now offer 50% off everything to Seniors on Tuesdays.
Goodwill gives (I think) 20% off on Thursdays.
Speer's Market in Forestville gives 10% off on Tuesdays.
Free movies at Third Street Cinemas on Thursday mornings during the winter (but they tell me you have to listen to a spiel by a funeral home & ad agency).

Sure..Rite Aid offers a discount I believe on Tuesdays and when you sign up for the card, if you are a member of AARP, you get some other bennies for signing up. (Not sure how that works, check your AARP newsletter or online.) Also, Sebastopol Cinema offers a discount comparable to the matinee price for movies. Those are the ones I know of, and would love to learn of more!

More: St. Vincent de Paul gives 15 or 20% off on Mondays and Tuesdays.
Salvation Army gives 15% (I think) off any day of the week, just ask.
Rio Theater in Monte Rio and Pegasus Theater (also M.R.) give senior discounts: same as the matinee prices.

Correction on Salvation Army: they give 50% discount on Tuesdays only to anyone over 55; on Fridays and Saturdays to everyone, but only stuff that has a tag dated before certain dates.
Goodwill gives 20% to anyone over 55 on Thursdays.
This is great info; I'm glad we're sharing it!

No, that's not what I have found; the Salvation Army gives 50% off anything dated over a month before, and this is true any day of the week, and for any age. The dates are posted on a sign in the front of the store, usually.
On Fridays (and Saturdays?) everything is half off, for anyone.
Tuesdays is the half-off for seniors day, but the other day, when I was buying something on Monday, and I said "Too bad I can't come back tomorrow, to get half off" the woman said that seniors got 15% off any day that they asked for it. This was the Rohnert Park store.

I have another local business to add to the list. Sequoia Drive In Restaurant has a great deal for people 60 plus: a junior burger, fries/onion rings, and a drink for $4.99, M- F, 3:00-6:00pm. Please give them some business.
