Performers, Artists & Craftspeople--
The Mythic Kitchen is an outgrowth of The Independent Eye, now in our 34th season. It's a ten-person ensemble, meeting twice monthly in our Sebastopol studio since August. We've produced two short puppet pieces at house parties and are scheduled for a full-length piece, a restaging of our DESCENT OF INANNA, in May. This is nontraditional puppet/mask theatre for adults, "experimental" but with a premium on story and accessibility, aiming for the highest level of artistry. Visit <http: www.independenteye.org=""> for a sense of what we're all about.
This isn't a single show, it's a long-term ensemble involvement, though we work around other things our members are doing. We’d like a few more members: performers, visual artists and craftspeople.
To audition, just email us your interest and we'll invite you to participate in a regular work session with the ensemble. You can get the feel of it, and we can get a sense how you might fit. Possible dates are Tuesday, Jan. 22; Thursday, Jan. 24; and Tuesday, Jan. 29, all at 7:15, all for approximately 2.5 hours. You need attend only one, but you must let us know in advance.
If you become a member, we ask two evenings per month for developmental experiment. There’s rehearsal in addition to that if you actually perform in one of our productions -- some members have only time available for the workshops, and that’s ok too. Schedule is set month by month, taking other obligations into account. But we’re not looking for occasional drop-ins: this is a demanding artistic discipline.
Ages 18 and up, good movement a requirement. We'd be pleased to have more 20 & 30-yr-olds. Performance experience is desirable, but experience with puppets isn't necessary. No fee to join, and no payment for your work, though when we do have paying performances, actors will receive a percentage of the revenue.
Email if you’re interested, and pass this information along to anyone who might be. Hope to hear from you.
Peace & joy--
