View Full Version : Holiday Freebie Thread ~ Pay It Forward

don

Holiday Greetings Waccovillians! :hello:

This is an ONGOING Holiday FREEBIE thread created in the spirit of giving, creating community connection and having fun! Like the movie Pay It Forward, I encourage people to generously give away "things" or services to other Waccovillians (everyone has something or some service that would be gratefully received by another), who in turn offer up and give away something to someone else, then another, and on it goes, without regard to what you might get in return.

In the spirit of giving, some suggested guidelines (just my vision, and I'm open to suggestions :):):

If you receive something, give something (or some service) away ~ the sooner the better so more can participate and keep the thread alive and ongoing!
Please do not participate if you are not intending to keep the flow going (giving). Even better, start out by giving something first!

Receive things ONLY for yourself or your immediate family.
Please DO NOT receive things for the purpose of reselling them ~ that is not what this thread is about!

If you can easily afford to buy the item anyway, consider that there are others on this board that may not be able to afford that item that would help them out. Maybe you wait a day before requesting the item, giving those of greater need to be helped. Also, only receive things you really need, not just for the sake of getting something.

You can specify who you might like to gift, such as a single mom, unemployed, or a geographic area (good to specify where you are as well). And you don't have to give it to the first person that asks, but the one that feels "right" to you. And please do it quickly so everyone knows ~ within a day or two.

If you don't get something you asked for, know that it went to a good home ~ and how about you giving something away first and then see what happens next time.

Please answer all ads privately, and edit your giving post when the item or service is spoken for, and the receiving person can post that they have received it along with what they are giving. Giving Gratitude to the giver is nice as well :)

OK? Enough of my thoughts, let's get to giving!!!
I'll post the first item after posting this.

Happy Holidays and Generous Giving and Receiving!

Great idea, Don! It will be fascinating to watch this unfold...

I've moved this thread to the General Community category, since, as you may have noticed, the For Sale/Free/Wanted category no longer accepts public replies. More about that in my much delayed blog (https://www.waccobb.net/forums/showthread.php?t=18685)...

Anyway, this should be fun! In addition to posting your offerings, I encourage you to also post anything else about this process....Did you know you wanted what what was offered before it was offered? Why did you want it? How was it meeting the offerer/ee? Did you know them? Is what you received what you thought you were going to receive? How was it to give it away, etc...

Let's try keeping all the offers/receipts/reports on this thread. As Don suggested, please reply privately if you are interested in what is offered. I suggest offerers review my proposed guidelines (https://www.waccobb.net/forums/showthread.php?t=14269) for offering items and see if that's the procedure you want to follow for your offer.

Once you item is taken, let's try just editing your post on this thread to say it was taken (or perhaps reserved or on hold). Note that the website will then always display the current status of an offer, whereas individual email updates are not necessarily current. So in this case, it would be best to use https://www.waccobb.net/forums/waccobb/orangebuttons/Website-Reply.jpg and then https://www.waccobb.net/forums/waccobb/orangebuttons/custom_reply_privately.gif rather than replying to the individual email.

You may also want to subscribe (or unsubsubscribe) for individual email updates (https://www.waccobb.net/forums/showthread.php?t=3597) to this thread so you get immediate notification, or to stop being pestered by them!

Let the offers begin!

Hey All

Glad to see some activity on here... thanks everyone! Maybe I forgot to mention, GUYS can participate as well!

Speaking of that, somehow, I think when the post got moved (or just an operator error on this end :hmmm:, MY start-things-off offering got lost in translation! How could I start this thread without walking my talk? So, once again and for the first time, here's my offering:

Almost new PUR faucet mount 3-stage water filter system with extra new filter. These are nice systems with easy to replace filters. I needed to replace my faucet just after I bought this (unrelated events :) and it does not fit so well with my new faucet. Has adpaters for most all common faucets. In the box with instructions!

Happy Holidays

The candle is taken, folks! Anybody want the gift wrap, ribbons and tags??

I mistakenly thought my freebie stuff was taken; so I still have available for you:

Pink votive candle holder, in gift box, with ribbon!

Bag of Christmas wrap, ribbons, bows, and gift cards.

What a wonderful idea :) Thanks for starting this thread.

I would like to offer 1 photo session for up to 3 people which includes a $65 print credit. You can see my most recent work on my Blog (https://blog.wild-rose-portrait-photography.com/).

EDIT: session is spoken for :)

Hi Don,
Great idea, one I've always liked - keeps the circle going..
If it's still available, I could really use the PUR filter and accompanying
hardware, etc. As it is, I'm hauling water (though not chopping wood),
making my life a bit harder because of the limitations of the chronic Lyme Disease I've been dealing with for five years. Please let me know; I'd be glad
to pick it up.
I'm offering, as part of the circle flow, a 19" color TV, works fine, and will deliver within reasonable distance (i.e. 15 miles or so of Cotati) - see separate listing.
Thanks for your thoughtfulness !

Hello Everyone,

A while back, with much gratitude, I received a water filter that a loving and generous soul offered on this post.

Please forgive the tardiness of my offer - a free hypnotherapy session (worth $100). I am a professional hypnotherapist in Santa Rosa, and would be honored to be of service to someone in the community who wants help with emotional issues, anxiety, addictions, fears, or just resistance making dreams come true. Sky's the limit! One session lasts between one and a half to two hours.

I look forward to it!
