Lois Johnson in Santa Rosa is a sensitive, knowledgeable and accessible physician who has a women's practice and an herbal pharmacy onsite. It is not inexpensive to see her and you have to bill your insurance company yourself. She gave me something for menopausal symptoms that she said was worth trying, but didn't work for everyone. Two weeks later I was symptom free and shortly thereafter I went off the supplement and symptoms did not return. I highly recommend her......her number is 522 1466. Good luck!

PS In case anyone is reading this who gets hot flashes or night sweats, it was hesperidin, which is a bioflavonoid (found in the rind of citrus fruits). If you don't get it from her, it's easiest to get it online. Not a common supplement. Or, I suppose you could eat a lot of oranges!

I also had tried everything for years. One day I was in Rosemary's Garden and found the Book "Herbal Healing for Women" by Rosemary Gladstar. She has helped so many women heal their cycles. It takes a bit of time and investment in yourself. Essentially you find your symptoms and use her herbal recipes to make your own medicine. It takes me about an hour once every 3 months to do this. She also helps you with some of the emotional healing. And healing with the ways society is unhelpful/hurtful to women's cycles.
This could be supplemented with an compassionate health practitioner. Through this work I have healed an extremely difficult cycles to healthy cycles. I highly recommend the book and the methods.
I wish you health and well being.-Andrea

My daughter tried the Emotional Freedom Technique and it seemed to work for her. She went to a practitioner who also used it on her carpal tunnel problem which got better.

My friends claim that Black Cohosh works for hormonal flare-ups that cause menopausal women to go psycho. I haven't tried it because I haven't reached menopause (maybe if I ignore it, it will never happen!), but I have a bottle on hand in case I feel myself going hormonal. Has anyone else tried it for PMS? The over-the-counter drug Premysin has really helped me in the past in avoiding PMS-related flare-ups/arguments. You just have to remember to take it before you start going psycho!
