I am shopping around as i need to get a new plan. Anyone out there have any opinions on sprint as a cell phone carrier? I am interested in what their coverage is like, good, bad, or just plain ugly?

thanks, radiya

I've had fair service with mine. I LOVE the free incoming minutes plan but do expect the plan to run a bit more than advertised. By the time you add in earlier nights, insurance and possibly text messages if you need them (a great way to send yourself the directions you need for that appointment) it can add up fast! The bad part is that most of rural Sebastopol and pretty much everything West of about Apple Blossom School is roaming and Bodega is analog roam! YIKES!

Better service along highway 101 for the most part but again step off the beaten path and its seems fairly minimal to say the least or roaming which is worse!

I am shopping as well at this time and I'm really looking at Verizon and AT&T based on perceived coverage. Reality is always a bit different.

I've had the Verizon National plan for over 5 years. From what I've noticed, they are the most expensive but I really like the coverage and the service.

Hi,
I have Sprint phone service and am very happy with it. I live in downtown Forestville and it is the only company I know that gets service here. The other plus is that now Sprint has a deal with Verizon to roam on their towers for free. So essentially you get all of Verizons service area too. I travel through Sebastopol and don't have problems but I am mainly downtown and on the main roads. Feel free to reply with any specific questions.

Hey Radiya

You didn't mention what coverage area you need, so I'll just give my experience.

I checked out the coverage maps for most all of the carriers, as I was being booted off the old AT&T TDMA service (they are cloing down that technology) and wanted to see what was available. I was considering Verizon as they have great rural coverage across the country (but milited in north western Sonoma County), and AT&T had been missing large rural areas. That really changed recently as AT&T bought Edge Wireless, adding a huge amount of coverage. So on Monday I got a new RAZR phone on AT&T and am pleasantly surprised with the coverage, including making calls all through downtown Forestville to River Road with excellent signal.

Good luck in your serach :)
Cheers
