Hi folks

I live in Sonoma County and I'm interested in finding some herbs (cooking), wondering if anybody knows of any growing wild? Particularly looking for sage because I'm a sage freak, but stuff like oregano and thyme too. If you happen to know of a patch/location anywhere could you let me know?

Thanks

All the herbs you mentioned grow like crazy just about anywhere in Sonoma county you plant them. Just get a few little ones at a nursery or a hardware store and get your garden growing. They'll even do well in pots.

Rosemary is one of the most popular decorative plants in the area. Take a walk down just about any street and carry some pruning shears with you. Just do a nice job of clipping them!

I know of only one kind of sage that grows wild and I saw in the east county on the way to St Helena. It's a prostrate, creeping variety and it's the only example of sage that grows that way I've ever seen. Although it's clearly aromatic sage, I didn't find it as appetizing as most of the more common culinary sages.

Good luck,
