View Full Version : Why ANY-sexual marriage?
I'm a very strong gay liberationist and, in fact, am sad not to be able to announce
myself everywhere as "a dyke" any more, since i've-- theoretically anyway--gone
back to being bisexual. BUT:
Can anyone tell me of any ADVANTAGE to having government-endorsed marriage
over having pre-nuptial agreements, powers of attorney and a wedding ceremony?
I'd rather get rid of government involvement in marriages of any kind than expand
the territory of the one-size-fits-all contract, which i consider one of the more foolish
ideas i've ever heard.

Hey; I would never get married myself, this is just me. Can you imagine if everyone that where gay where aloud to get married? Can you imagine the one thing in this country that could and would put us out of this depression? Gay marriage alone would do this, all the weddings all the presents all at one being bought, all the clothing, all the money being spent just on the number of weddings in the first year alone would pull us out of this recession and onto a brighter future. I say we push for the overall gay marriage and really have some fun while we are at it!!! Oh I am not gay, YET!!!

I think that the state's primary interest in marriage is to protect the welfare of any children that might issue. It's easy to imagine prenuptial agreements that wouldn't protect children's welfare.
