So today we got a call from a woman in Santa Rosa who had read our letter in the PD who said that she occasionally sees a man "trimming" trees and bushes and flowers who takes them down to the SF Flower Mart and sells them! That's how he earns his living! He's always out between 4:30 and 5am.
She called the SR police on him and they laughed at her.
This leaves us (pun not intended) more enlightened, but still puzzled as to how to protect our remaining baby branches. A big THANKS to everyone who wrote offering suggestions.
