Dear Waccovians—

Looking for leads. Next May, The Independent Eye (with our new initiative The Mythic Kitchen) is restaging our mask/puppet drama THE DESCENT OF INANNA. Possibly we have a location, but we want to explore all options. So I’m asking for any suggestions about spaces to check as possible venues.

Our needs: Seating for 40-150. Possibility of performance on Fri/Sat evenings for three weeks. Rental $250 per night or less. Anywhere in Sonoma County except far west or way north. Capacity to darken the room. Performance space of about 16 ft. deep, 16 ft. wide.

Doesn’t have to have stage lighting — we’re totally self-contained. Doesn’t have to have a raised stage. Doesn’t need to be a theatre — we’d be very happy to play in the back end of a warehouse, a vacant storefront, or a sewage treatment facility as long as it’s legal & kinda homey.

We think we’ve checked out just about every space in the region, but there’s always a burrow, a dome, or a fallout shelter we may have overlooked. So any ideas, however wacco, would be greatly appreciated.

Peace & joy—
Conrad

I have a wooded country property near Graton and have built a 16'X10' outdoor stage on a slope, sort of a natural amphitheatre. We have about 30 plastic chairs and several tables. I built it so my band would always have a place to play, but have also been considering letting others use it for shows of all kinds. You are welcome to come on out and take a look.
