Well said, NT and light
Sonomamark is a troll
he reposts an outdated announcement to stir up trouble
he uses ignorance and prejudice rather than experience to base his fallacies
Dear WaccoBB friend . . .
I am curious about why so many WaccoBB participants are upset with Allan Hardman. I have known Allan for years, and never once got the impression that he believed we do not need each other. He created the Summer Celebration of Love so people could get together and express their love for Life, for Each Other, and for the Earth.
He teaches that we are each complete as Human Beings, and do not need anyone else to fill the emptiness which many believe exists inside us. We were born with the capacity to know, understand, and share Love, and expressing this love with others is vital.
We choose mates because we feel comfortable with them and want to explore all the goodness and beauty of Life with them. If we do not feel comfortable with ourselves, and believe someone else can make us whole and complete, we may want to explore the magic and essential goodness that dwells within us before choosing a mate.
The 'age of the guru' is over. We all have the ability to plunge right in and play a vital role in creating a new Earth, inhabited by beautiful Beings who express Love and Light in all we do. I have found Allan Hardman to be very available and urge you to contact him through his website, Joydancer.com. You will be excited to discover there's lots of room for expansion in the New Consciousness. There's a wonderful Place for us all to participate, to create, and express while we grow.
Yours in Peace and Wisdom,
Light :):

it is this kind of nihilistic emptiness that keeps atheists, without a conscious, attacking other people beause they have something to offer
this dribble is the nadir of nothingness
the triumph of a troll
Well, I agree, Light wrote some very pretty prose.

I've said this before, but this is a different thread, so for readers of this one--I see that ThePhiant has replied to my post. However, that person is on my Ignore list, and I do not see its posts. Thus, I won't be responding to whatever it has said.
Thanks again, Barry, for the wonderful troll filter function.

Thanks mark for admitting you are a troll !!!!
reading my posts, sticking your head in the sand so that you can talk out of your A is one way to hide behind your fallacies.
it is only soooooooooooooooo transparent
addressing the issues as they arise would be a Mark of Maturity, but unfortunately that is not something you strive for.

MUSIC?
THIS THREAD IS ABOUT MUSIC?
Oh yeah only a troll would derail a thread purposely in order not to have deal with the issues
I've been thinking about this bit, and thought I'd chime in again.
It certainly hasn't been lost on me that in recent years, "kids these days" has actually crept into my lexicon. It's shocking to me: I was a punk rocker, and if you see me driving my old 1987 Honda down Occidental Road, odds are good there is a Very Loud Sound coming out of it in the form of something embarrassingly head-banging like the Von Bondies, X, Firewater, the Donnas or the Voidoids. Well, when I'm not listening to early music, which is my other love.
But our culture has changed, and not for the better. The two elements I identify as most at fault for this go directly to youth culture which has predominated since GenX, and they are:
1) A sense of personal entitlement that is so inflated as to be grotesque. The typical middle class kid coming of age in the US over the past 20 years or so not only expects to be handed a college education, a car, and every electronic toy available under the sun...s/he also expects to move directly into some kind of "self fulfilling" job that pays a lot but doesn't actually involve a lot of work. It's staggering, and I have no doubt that it is a direct outgrowth of the we-deserve-it-all mentality of the 60's.
2) Hip-hop culture. This isn't about race: most of the market for hip-hop is white teenaged middle class boys. Taken as a whole, hip-hop is shallow, materialistic, violent, misogynistic and homophobic: it's like the mind of a 16-year-old male on steroids and speed. Because it is entirely rhythmic, it is incapable of tenderness, and this narrow emotional palette leads to a whole generation whose understanding of how to be is strutting, confrontational, demanding, brutal and conspicuously consuming. Whether there are some artists that are somewhat different in message is beside the point.
Others will complain, I expect, that this is just like the older folks in the 20's complaining about jazz as "that Devil music", likewise rock n' roll in the 50's, but I haven't heard the one about Dion and the Belmont's posse rubbing out a bunch of Elvis' crew, have you? This is something different. It is the ugliness of America's violent and greedy nature, distilled down to something pure and ugly, and set to a beat.
My critique isn't just about "kids these days", but kids don't have the benefit of life experience to temper the garbage pouring into their ears from mainstream culture, so they're far more susceptible to it. When murderous video games and drum-thumping chants about killing, beating and raping are "entertainment", it's no surprise we've got problems.
Of course, somebody makes money on it. In America, I guess that makes it all okay.

yes, people can only receive what they are ready for.
ignorance is bliss
Dear Sonomamark, and others who have written:
Thank you for your opinions in response to my curiosity. I have taken to heart the things you said. Of course, we are all in different places, and we all have a lot to learn. Often we make statements which probably seem simplicistic to others, just because that's where we were at the moment. I certainly did not mean to insult anyone's intelligence!
Anyhow, we sure have lots to think about, don't we?
Best regards to all, Light

...Thanks again, Barry, for the wonderful troll filter function.
I myself have decided not to filter out the troll, as it's become so much fun to see it desperately try to push various buttons in hopes of a response that I never give it anymore. Watching a troll squirm in ineffectual frustration has become a delight for me. Every time it tries to stir up conflict by purposely misinterpreting people's obvious meanings, drawing silly inferences from others' posts that really weren't implied, saying things which clearly have no other purpose than to get a rise out of some sucker, or even trying to provoke others by calling THEM trolls (LOL!), I picture the troll in my mind's eye, squirming in frustration due to our non-response to their pathetic attempts at provocation, and I fucking LOVE IT! I'm glad I learned pretty quickly that non-response is the best revenge.
Now my life is enriched by the entertaining spectacle of watching this pathetic creature squirm! I recommend this hobby to everyone. It's safe, healthy and doesn't cost a dime. So, trolls (you know who you are), keep the bullshit coming; we're counting on you for entertainment.

very interesting statement Dixie,
you are starting to sound more and more like the other atheists, who sound more and more like Bill Clinton when he said he didn't have sex with that woman.
you aren't responding????????? LMFAO
Watching a troll squirm in ineffectual frustration has become a delight for me.
this is a very immature statement for a 50 year old.
it is something a troll would say though

very judgmental but no substance
something a troll would say
I picture the troll in my mind's eye, squirming in frustration due to our non-response to their pathetic attempts at provocation,
very immature again
something a troll would get off on
and I fucking LOVE IT!
trolls are known for foul language

very immature but something a troll would do

this is quite a fantasy you are living, I am glad you got it off your chest
you might not take my word for it that you behave like a troll
but this was posted by a dear, dear friend mine on 3-26-07
regarding Weeding The Phiant
you might even be able to guess who it is
I'm not sure whether to call him/her a troll. That seems to imply some assumptions about his/her motivations and, speaking as one who occasionally is the target of false asssumptions about my own motivations from those who disagree with me, I'm sensitive to the fact that we're on thin ice when we make presumptions about others' motivations.
Although it makes sense to attribute purposeful disputatiousness to someone who chooses nicknames one of which is a pun on "defiant" and the other on "giant prick", I prefer to give people the benefit of the doubt.
So I would stop short of the troll assumption, though it could be true. Assessing the situation on the basis of her/his actual behavior without assumptions about her/his intentions, I note that s/he/it stops short of actual verbal abuse, preferring sarcasm (which I myself am no stranger to!) and irrational argument. It seems to me that if we were to excommunicate ThePhiant due to sarcasm, I and several others would also be outtahere, and if we were to excommunicate ThePhiant due to irrationality and closed-mindedness, we'd have to kick out two-thirds of Wacco's membership for the same reason.

so this is the most amazing thing
I apparently started a new topic without my knowledge!!!.
so thank you Barry for raising the issue!!!
it appears that there is more than one person that qualifies to be called a troll, or do we all have a little troll in us?
taking my posts out of context is not helpful, Barry

Mykil, you don't get it
you can't ASK to become a troll
you have to be nominated by another troll
caus only trolls know what a real troll acts like
the one with the most nominations becomes the KingTroll
and that would be me,
since Trolls do everything backwards
I am going to take Dixie as my Queentroll
don't you think we would make a lovely pair???
WOW; Now I wanna be a TroLL
if you keep using those asinine big letters, I might call you a troll

How about if we have a Troll Poll to find out who the Wacco community thinks is the King Troll? And see how many votes troll number 2, 3, etc get. We can include the option where people can create a new candidate of their preference so that it's not a closed poll. The poll would evolve with time, of course, as new trolls come and go and the top trolls continue to outdo each other as in a horse race.
We could also have troll support groups and conferences and maybe even organize to get a 501c3 status and go national.
How about it?

Now you're beginning to sound like Caligula and that's scary and creepy! Everything has to be according to your rules only and you can change them at your whim? I'm not sure I want to play along.
Part of what peaked my interest was that since you had referred to me recently as the "poll troll" then it would be unique for the Poll Troll to hold a troll-poll.
How about this: you organize the poll as you see fit and if you wish, your Highness, the Wacco Community will be able to at least offer their input. Polls are very, very easy to do.

Dixon, I love your new nickname, "Diety!" Very appropriate considering the extensive debates and threads on related subjects the past few weeks or even months.
It had not occured to me that what you mentioned could happen. I didn't even take it into consideration. I'm hoping that with time and participation that trickles in, there will be enough votes to get a straw poll result on who the troll royalty should be.
Talking about royalty, that gives me the idea that there could be a king AND a queen!
