There must be many places that would like to have volunteers come and help them, either on a special occasion--like a film festival--or on a regular basis--like a soup kitchen. Since I'm new to this area, I don't know where to find these volunteer possibilities. Do you think there are enough of them to merit a Volunteer Opportunities category?

Thanks for your suggestion. I think volunteer posts, on balance, are best served by keeping them in the General Community category for ongoing volunteer needs or the Events category for volunteer for an event. That way, many people will come across them serendipitously.

If you search for "Volunteer" you will find quite a few opportunities.

If you are new to this area, The Volunteer Center of Sonoma Co 573-3399 is a great resorce for finding connections. They can plug you in where you feel you want to be....And they appreciate all the help they can get.

Sonoma County has an excellent volunteer center. If you want to find them I believe it's still located in Santa Rosa.

Best to you,
