We have recently been blessed by our first feline--she is 3 months old and we are having a problem with her sometimes not using the litter box to pee. We've discovered pee in various other places around the house. Not always, but enough to cause great concern. Any seasoned feline fiends out there who can enlighten us?

Very appreciative,

Judy

There are several reasons that I know of why a cat will not use her box.

1. Some cats insist on a perfectly clean box so you need to make sure that you are cleaning the box daily and maybe even twice daily. Would you want to use a dirty toilet?

2. Your cat may feel threatened and is marking her territory.

3. Your cat may have a urinary tract infection, or something similar, which will make her incontinent. These sort of infections usually come from having a dirty litter box.

I suggest calling your vet and asking their opinion. If you do not have one yet, I recommend Forestville Veterinary Hospital. They are very caring and helpful...tell them Erika referred you!

Good luck!
