We need help with transporting 18 x 26' lodge poles from Willits to Sebastopol as soon as possible. We foolishly thought we could pop them on the roof rack of our car! Not so.

We are building a tipi for Burning Man and have cut these poles ourselves but are still looking to buy the truck that will get it all there.

Does anyone know of a vehicle capable of carrying these (they weigh about 400lbs possibly) that we could possibly borrow or rent cheaply? :):

A full-size pickup truck with a sturdy lumber rack should be quite sufficient. Most full-size pickups are around 20' long, so not toooo much overhang on both ends. Lots of rope &/or cargo straps, red flag or two - 400 lbs isn't that much compared to the weight of the truck. But just the same, slow on the curves, especially on that grade down to Ukiah; lots of knuckleheads on that stretch. Good tire inflation, muy importante!

Another option is to rent a "low-boy" trailer from your local equipment rental yard. that's kind of overkill for what you need to do though.
